| Jesper Larsen Antik was founded in 1987 in a small closed
down auto repair shop in a backyard at Vesterbrogade near Pile Allé
and the park "Søndermarken". Already at this point
I had been employed for several years by my father who gave me my
basic training.
Rather quickly it was necessary to have more space, so the shop
was expanded with more workshops in the same building as they became
vacant.
With the expansion it was necessary to have more employees, so today
we are three full-time assistants and one apprentice. During peak
periods we are five employees, but then we "matter a lot to
each other" – in other words, we have each of us very
little space. But it is cosy and we are very pleased with our small
oasis in the backyard of Frederiksberg, so we are staying as long
as possible.
All employees have been taught in the company and have after their
apprenticeships came to an end wanted to stay on in the shop either
as permanently employed or as casual labourers.
In 1998 the company was transformed into a partnership and is from
then called Jesper Larsen Antik ApS.
In 2003-2004 we were asked to restore the permanent exhibition
of the Whim Museum on St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. It was a large
and fascinating task which meant a lot of travelling, and of course
work and adventure.
As a result of this, we got the task of restoring all the furniture
for a new auctioneering business on St. Croix. The furniture can
be seen on www.mahogany-auctions.com.
Besides this our clients comprise:
Danish and foreign auctioneers
Insurance companies
Banks
Large private companies
Embassies
Castles and manor houses
Museums
Antique dealers
Movie companies
Private collectors
and many more
