| In our workshop we do all kinds of restoration work
on furniture of good quality. We primarily polish by hand as we
believe this is the only correct way to restore an antique piece
of furniture of rare woods.
Before a task is started, we draw up a "report" on the
condition of the piece, i.e. age, style and so on are determined.
Then we advise the customer as to how far we think we should go
in the restoration process. We find the correct furnishings, keys
etc.
We have found that it is a good thing to invite the client to the
workshop during the execution of the work. In this way the owner
of the piece gets a larger insight into how much work the restoration
costs and into the methods and the workmanship as a whole. This
is also done because this kind of workmanship no longer is a part
of the cabinetmaker training, but only can be achieved by handing
down from old cabinetmakers. Experience tells us that many people
find this interesting.
